Sarah Cuello

My name is Sarah Cuello. I’ve been a letter carrier since 2016, starting as a CCA in Brookfield, Illinois, and I currently serve as a Carrier Academy Facilitator, letter carrier, and alternate steward (designated for Article 8) in Villa Park.

I’m a fourth-generation union member. My father was a union glazier, and both my grandfather and great-grandfather worked for the railroad. Growing up in a union family taught me the importance of solidarity, collective action, and standing up for working people.

From my very first union meeting, I experienced the welcoming and supportive culture that makes our union strong. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how members look out for one another, not just in the workplace but in life. Those experiences reinforced my belief that a strong union is built on communication, education, and mutual support.

Over the years, I’ve contributed to our branch by creating flyers and digital content, maintaining and improving our website, and helping members access important information. I’m passionate about making union resources more accessible and ensuring members stay informed and engaged.

I’ve also continued developing my leadership skills through programs including the Regina V. Polk Women’s Labor Leadership Conference, the Midwest Women’s Worker School, the Region 3 Leadership Academy, and the Labor Notes Troublemaker’s School.

I believe our union is strongest when members feel welcomed, informed, and empowered. I’m proud to be part of that effort and look forward to continuing to serve and support my fellow carriers.
